Bristol’s vibrant music scene has a new standout as Chandra, the pop-rock quartet, release their debut EP ‘Lifted’. Building on the momentum of five well-received singles released over the past year, this fresh collection not only showcases their knack for infectious melodies but also introduces a new track, ‘Overload’, rounding out a six-song set that pulses with energy and positivity.

‘Lifted’ is crafted with the intent to elevate and inspire, a mission that’s evident from the very first track ‘Smile (No Fox Gibbon)’, through to the rousing finale ‘Lighters To The Sky’. This is music designed to resonate no matter the listener’s state of mind, offering a burst of joy and motivation. Chandra’s frontman, Chandra Nair, emphasises that these songs are meant to be more than just catchy tunes—they’re a declaration of hope and resilience, capturing the essence of life’s ups and downs.

The EP opens with the infectious ‘Smile (No Fox Gibbon)’, a track that sets the tone with its cheerful and inviting vibe. It’s followed by ‘Pretty’, a song that continues the theme of optimism with its bright guitar riffs and uplifting lyrics. Efforts like ‘I’ll Be There’ and the titular ‘Lifted’ delve into deeper emotional territory while maintaining the overall buoyant mood of the collection. The freshly recorded EP rendition of ‘Lighters To The Sky’ breathes new life into an already beloved track, showcasing the band’s growth since their early days recording in makeshift home studios.

‘Overload’, the newest addition to their discography, brings a fresh edge to the EP, blending Chandra’s signature upbeat guitar work with a slightly more intense drive, encapsulating the exhilaration and chaos of modern life. This track, like the others, highlights Chandra Nair’s commanding vocal presence. His rich and emotive voice drives home the personal and relatable narratives embedded within each song.

What makes ‘Lifted’ particularly compelling is its commitment to authenticity. Chandra doesn’t shy away from addressing real-life challenges—self-doubt, mental health, and the quest for self-acceptance—through a lens of empathy and encouragement. These themes, while often whispered in daily life, are given a powerful voice in this EP, making it a rallying cry for self-belief and kindness.

With ‘Lifted’, Chandra offer a soundtrack to life’s trials and triumphs, and a reminder that through all the chaos, there’s always a reason to smile, to keep going, and to lift each other up.
