Ever since he first emerged, Bristol-based singer-songwriter Ryan McMurtry has always looked to adopt a more humbled aesthetic than most. Creating these beautifully warm and serene textures within everything he produces, he has spent much of the last few years honing a spellbinding direction in which to call his own. And after the roaring response to his much-loved debut EP ‘Thoughts Like Birds’ near the beginning of last year, he now makes his eagerly-awaited return to deliver his wondrous comeback single ‘Summer Rain’.

Suiting its title from start to finish, ‘Summer Rain’ has this equally bright yet sombre flow to it. Matching the same wistful nature his material to date has been filled with, Ryan McMurtry makes light work of its rich and emotive tones as he looks to sweep us off our feet from beginning to end.

Set to feature on his forthcoming new EP, which is due out later this year, ‘Summer Rain’ continues to explore more of those warm and inviting grooves he is known for. Heralding the next phase within his musical evolution, he soars across this new delight with vigour and confidence at every single turn.

It may have been a while since we last heard any new material from him, but ‘Summer Rain’ makes for the perfect return from one of the UK’s more expressive singer-songwriters. Moving with such a subtle grace from start to finish, we can’t wait to hear what this new EP will have in store for us as well.
