Expert in ethereal and atmospheric indie swoon-pop, Canadian artist Windmills is back with the beautiful new single, ‘As You Like It’. It’s been two years since the release of the outfits hugely popular album ‘what need is there to weep?’, which met international critical acclaim and was an instant vinyl sell out. After two years focusing on an immense number of tour dates, Windmills will be releasing one song every month for the remainder of 2024, beginning with ‘As You Like it’.

A tonal shift from the 2022 album, ‘As You Like it’ is a smooth, relaxed and often optimistic feeling piece. Whilst the lyrics speak of self-doubt, self-sabotage and feelings of anxiety, it feels like this self reflection is met with a dry yet good humored wit. There’s so much warmth built into the layers of the song, with magical and dreamy touches like the strumming of a harp, this creation is a delight and captures a breezy summer vibe.

Windmills have planned a big year with the release of each single, culminating in a new album due for release in 2025. The calm and unhurried strategic release of their new music speaks to their talent and the deep pool of creativity they can draw from. This can be heard in each of their songs and ‘As You Like It’ sits amongst their best. Despite a long and rich career so far, the momentum of new music is clearly still rolling and we eagerly look forward to each and every release.
