The Transits have never been ones to tiptoe around a chorus, and with their latest single ‘Live Today’, they floor it straight into the heart of what makes pop-punk so exhilarating. This explosive track is a headrush of synth-laced adrenaline, tight hooks, and a chorus that practically demands you shout it from the rooftops.

‘Live Today’ is a track that feels like a sunrise joyride with no speed limit. Built around Ryan Lunn’s shimmering synth flourishes and searing guitar licks, Dom Antelme’s magnetic bass and vocals, and Tyrone Smith’s precision drumming, the song bursts forward with the energy of a hundred espresso shots.

The single’s music video only sharpens the edge. Set against the roaring backdrop of dirt-track racing, it’s equal parts gritty and charmingly eccentric. With beloved New Zealand comedian Tom Sainsbury as a hype-man-slash-mentor, the clip plays out like a mini indie film that’s as hilarious as it is heartfelt. Kate Simmonds steps in as the determined underdog racer, pushing through dust and doubt to claim her victory lap, all under the comedic yet endearing eye of Sainsbury’s delightfully oddball manager.

The Transits channel the nostalgia of 2000s skate-punk but twist it with modern production and a touch of synth-pop shimmer, making something that feels thrillingly new. There’s a palpable sense of camaraderie that pulses through the track that you can hear it in every galloping drumbeat and every anthemic shout.

Despite being divided by oceans, with Ryan crafting parts from Durban while Dom and Tyrone shape grooves in Auckland, the trio’s musical chemistry is undeniable. Their previous singles have already proven they know how to write songs that stay lodged in your head for days (good luck trying to shake ‘When You Went Away’), but ‘Live Today’ kicks things up another gear. It’s a mission statement for the band’s forward motion and their insistence on savoring every high-speed second.

As they rev up for their next album later this year, The Transits show no signs of slowing down. If ‘Live Today’ is anything to go by, they’re out to leave tire marks on your heart.
