With their new single ‘Riverside’, Stone Arch Rivals take a sharp detour from the thunderous energy of their past releases and slip into something far more soulful, and it suits them beautifully.

This track creeps in softly, almost like a confession muttered in the dark. Claire Spinti’s vocals carry a bruised tenderness, weaving through echoing guitars and hushed piano lines courtesy of the legendary Tommy Barbarella. His touch brings a spectral quality, a hushed elegance that feels like it’s been lifted straight out of a midnight reverie.

In the words of Spinti “Rivers carry so much symbolism,” she says. “They’re the perfect setting for a song about wanting something that was never yours to lose.” Spinti draws on her love of theatre and teenage daydreams to deliver lines that sting in their simplicity. The result feels cinematic and personal all at once, as though you’ve stumbled into someone else’s most private moment.

While previous songs from the band roared like open highways, ‘Riverside’ glides like a slow-moving river at dusk; reflective, mysterious, and heavy with secrets. It’s a track made for twilight drives, rain-streaked windows, and the kind of introspection that only surfaces when the world gets quiet.

Stone Arch Rivals prove here that they know how to draw you in with silence and suggestion. ‘Riverside’ is a gentle haunt that will follow you long after you press stop.
