In her new single and video ‘The Perfect Girl’, Elise Trouw transforms a seemingly ordinary classroom into a site of quiet critique. The setting represents how early ideas about beauty and worth are learned, and how often they go unchallenged.

The track, part of her upcoming album The Diary of Elon Lust (out February 13), is written through the eyes of “Elon,” a male narrator who catalogues women’s features with unnerving precision. His charm barely masks the underlying arrogance, making the satire both clever and uncomfortable.

Visually, the clip heightens the message: dancers follow Elon’s cues like a choreographed echo of compliance, while anatomical diagrams and checklists literalize the song’s themes. Trouw’s production contrasts this discomfort with polished, rhythmic pop, ensuring the critique lands both intellectually and emotionally.
