In an era of shortcuts and surface-level hype, 424KP is proof that discipline still matters. At just 23 years old, the Nigerian-born, US-raised artist has carved out a global audience of over 200,000 monthly listeners by showing up, grinding relentlessly, and turning pain into purpose.
Earlier this year, 424KP launched his most ambitious chapter yet: a 20-week release series delivering a new song, music video, and vlog every single week; all written, filmed, produced, edited, and released entirely by himself. No label. No crew. Just focus, hunger, and a mission.
What unfolded became a soundtrack for anyone climbing through heartbreak, hunger, doubt, and grind culture. Each week brought a new creative discipline, a new lens, and a new piece of 424KP’s evolving story.
We sat down with 424KP to talk about the mindset behind the madness, the weight of doing everything solo, and what it really means to build a legacy brick by brick in a world obsessed with instant success.

Can you tell us a bit about your background and how you got started in music?
I come from a house where both my parents used to play music, different styles of course, due to their different cultures and upbringing. I’ve always had music playing like a soundtrack to my life. At 17 I decided to do my first instagram freestyle. The rest is history.
Who are your biggest musical influences and how have they shaped your sound?
Firstly I’d say if it weren’t for the likes of Lil Wayne, Drake, Polo G, A Boogie and Dave I don’t think I would sound the same as I do now.
They showed me that sonically it didn’t have to be harsh or rough but the lyrics and melodies could tell a story themselves.
Was there a specific moment or experience that made you decide to pursue music seriously?
Honestly the feeling of releasing music, relating with people who listen and connecting at shows was the reason I stayed at it. All of it even till now is for the same reason.
Can you walk us through your typical songwriting process?
Hmmm. I’d probably freestyle 2-3 takes of random bars, melodies and noises just to get ideas and thoughts out (recorded) as they flow out my head.
Then we arrange a rough idea and go add lyrics. (If there is a theme or topic in mind this is where the emphasis can be furthered)
Pretty simple.
How do you find inspiration for your music and lyrics?
Life. Ups and downs. A lot to write about. A lot to feel.
What themes or messages do you hope listeners take away from your music?
That you should get back up when life knocks you down. Whether yourself or with help, the days get better. And then worse. And then better again. Keep moving upwards.
What challenges have you faced as an emerging artist in the music industry?
Coming from 2 countries so far apart and having spent equal time in both. It’s hard to say I “fit in” in either.
It’s harder for some to relate to my story perhaps. But it creates space for others to feel my struggles/stories more.
What has been the most rewarding aspect of your musical journey so far?
Seeing the impact it has on the life of people I know and have never met.
How do you stay true to yourself and your artistry in a constantly evolving industry?
Not pretending. I can’t be someone else better than them. I can be me better than them.
What can fans expect from you in the near future? Any upcoming projects or tours?
In 2026 I plan to drop my tape “4what?” On top of this I’m hoping to do a little tour of the globe and reach the fans who have been tapped in for so long all across the world.
Where do you see yourself and your music career in the next five years?
Closer to the top.
