Los Angeles-based project Grihastha returns with ‘MACHiNE’, a ferocious new single that combines industrial electronics, crushing guitar work and big philosophical ideas into one of the project’s most ambitious releases to date.
The track is the work of Grammy-nominated producer and multi-instrumentalist Nikhil Suresh, who launched Grihastha during the uncertainty of 2020 as a vehicle for exploring heavier sounds alongside deeper existential questions. On ‘MACHiNE’, those two worlds collide head-on.
Driven by mechanical rhythms, metallic textures and riffs that hit with relentless force, the single examines the unsettling point where instinct and desire begin to overpower conscious decision-making. The music mirrors that tension, constantly shifting shape through complex rhythmic patterns and abrasive sonic detail.
What began as a brief guitar idea in early 2024 gradually evolved into something far more expansive, with industrial percussion, live drums and dense layers of electronic noise replacing earlier versions of the arrangement. The result feels deliberately unstable, balancing precision and chaos in equal measure.
