Nashville-based Blackpool Mecca have never been afraid to push boundaries as a rock band. Loved by an international fan base for their musical depth and passionate live performances, they are back with ‘Loud’ their third single of 2024.
The track has a long history with the band and is a true example of collaboration, through an understanding of a song’s potential to each other’s talent. It began as an instrumental demo from the guitarist, Kris, and happened upon later by vocalist Baxter who was instantly inspired and motivated to write accompanying lyrics. Fans will recognise the song as it has been a long time favorite at live performances and has evolved ever since. Producer Jared Corder (Polychrome Ranch) refined the song and the band are now here to share the final product.
‘Loud’ is a much grittier and grungy outing for Blackpool Mecca, with a real emotive and poignant quality, it’s hard to listen and not deeply feel the lyrics. We can hear the influences of bands such as Pixies and Smashing Pumpkins with the dynamic shifting of tones throughout the song, it goes from a sleepy and dreamy pleading, to a heavy and frustrated regret.
The softer sections have the twanging of guitar and a warped sound that perfectly match the vocals wistfulness. Leading into the heavy and powerful chorus, there is a rawness to the guitars, drums and vocals of more contemporary acts such as Biffy Clyro. This atmospheric anger gives the song weight and grounds the song as a superb alternative rock anthem.
With Blackpool Mecca’s fast-building catalogue and continuing worldwide recognition we can expect many more great things from the ensemble.
