Over these last few years, London-based duo Lemonade Sin have been honing a crafting a distinctive direction for themselves. Originally making their mark as members of Sidi Bou Said and Umbrella Heaven respectively, the band’s Lee Friese-Greene and Simon Aldous have borrowed from a wealth of dynamic genres and eras throughout the history of popular music to cultivate their vibrant aesthetic, resulting in some wildly enjoyable releases along the way. And with another batch of fresh offerings arriving in the last few months, they are now looking to cement this moment in their tenure with their vibrant new studio album ‘Deadly Sins’.
Building upon the acclaim they received for their 2022 LP ‘Anagrams’, the band find themselves in a wonderfully warm and alluring guise. Bringing back more of that inventive ideal they have created for themselves since they first emerged, ‘Deadly Sins’ makes for a wonderfully explorative listen as they couple warm and tender songwriting with a more euphoric edge throughout.
Swapping back and forth between their own compelling vocal styles throughout this new offering, this new fourteen-track collection makes for an incredibly bright and welcoming return from them. With tracks like ‘Having A Better Time’ highlighting their more creative prowess, they are certainly looking to get our toes tapping with this one.
While they have looked to adopt an adventurous spirit to everything they do, ‘Deadly Sins’ sounds like a strong and confident step forward for their musical evolution to date. Embarking on some wonderfully emotive moments as it plays, Lemonade Sin continue to develop into one of the more passionate acts the capital has to offer.
