After originally breaking through with a wave of wondrous delights in recent years, fast-rising outfit Future Husband have always looked to pursue a more progressive energy than most. And after plenty of praise for their offerings to date, they return with their lofty new single ‘Terra’.

So with the new single available to stream now, we sat down with them to discuss their origins and their plans for the future as well.

Can you tell us a bit about your background and how you got started in music?

We all came to music back in high school, and over the years, most of us have played together in different ways. It wasn’t a big plan—we just enjoyed making music, and eventually, we found ourselves touring with Feng Suave. That experience brought us closer, and from there, Future Husband naturally took shape.

Who are your biggest musical influences, and how have they shaped your sound?

We’re into all kinds of music—Pond, Big Thief, Carole King, LCD Soundsystem. It’s a bit of a mixed bag, honestly. We just like what feels real to us, whether it’s great lyrics, a nice groove, or something unexpected. We really love the brill building artists that see songwriting as a craft. I think we take from all these influences.

What themes or messages do you hope listeners take away from your music?

More than anything, we want people to feel seen. A song doesn’t need to have an answer or a perfectly wrapped message—it just needs to reflect something familiar. If our music can hold space for that, we’re doing something right.

How do you stay true to yourself and your artistry in a constantly evolving industry?

We keep it simple, focusing on what feels honest rather than what we “should” be doing. At the end of the day, it’s about making music that feels close to home—even if it doesn’t check every box.

What can fans expect from you in the near future?

We just released “Terra,” a song that means a lot to us, and we’re excited to share our full album next year. The album digs into themes of growth and change—it’s a kind of coming-of-age story that mirrors what’s happening in the world. We’re hoping to play more shows and maybe even tour with some of our favourite artists if things line up.

Where do you see yourself and your music career in the next five years?

In five years, we see Future Husband connecting with more people and keeping our sound evolving. We’re working on a big project that’s taking us into new territory with both sound and storytelling. Without saying too much, it’s a deeper dive into some raw and surreal themes, and we’re excited to see where it takes us and our audience.
