Santa Claws Release New Single ‘She Turns’ Previewing Shift in Sound for Upcoming Album
French rock band Santa Claws, formed in 2014, have released their latest single, ‘She Turns,‘ as a preview to their upcoming album, ‘…So Live And Let Lie.’ The Brittany-based independent band, celebrated for their debut album ‘Life is a Lie’ produced by Greg Gordon (known for his work with Oasis, Supergrass, Nick Cave, etc.), have once again enlisted him for their latest production.
Influenced by Radiohead, Rival Sons, Supergrass, and more, Santa Claws define their sound as blending Stoner, melodic pop, and rock’n’roll. However, their new album promises a departure to provide a fusion of rock’n’roll energy with a more polished pop, psychedelic, and melancholic vibe.
Released on November 5, 2023, ‘She Turns’ tackles the theme of women’s emancipation, portraying a woman as free, independent, happy, and proud. The single resonates with Americana influences, featuring echoes of Counting Crows and Hootie and the Blowfish. Vocally, early Marillion or Peter Gabriel comparisons highlight a distinct voice, and the strong chorus adds a cinematic touch, suggesting potential for movie soundtracks.
Approaching their 10th anniversary in 2024, Santa Claws remain committed to their roots while exploring new musical territories. ‘She Turns’ serves as a powerful anthem to elevate them to the next level.
