Leeds punk-rap seven-piece Sleuth Gang return with ‘Safe Bet’, a raw, emotionally charged indie-rock anthem that digs deep into the pain of toxic relationships. Produced by Dave Boothroyd (Bring Me The Horizon, Blink-182) and recorded at York’s 6db Studios, the track blends gritty lyricism, hook-heavy choruses, and a hard-hitting groove that captures the desperation of trying to be everything for someone who gives nothing back.
“‘Safe Bet’ is about reshaping yourself to feel accepted — even if it means losing your identity,” says vocalist Lewis Jones. “It’s that moment you realise you’ve handed over your power just to hold onto something broken.”
The Bobby Mercury-directed video adds a tragicomic twist, placing the band in a faded 90s working men’s club where their chaotic performance plays out to an unbothered crowd, a nod to the futility at the heart of the song.
With BBC Introducing support and a growing reputation for high-octane live shows, Sleuth Gang are only just getting started.
