Supercaan‘s anticipated album, ‘A Tiger Walks the Streets,’ is being released on April 12th. After the massive success of their debut single ‘Zoetrope,’ which snagged Radio Wigwam’s Single of the Year in 2023 and scored nominations at big-name film festivals like Flatpack Film Festival and Birmingham Film Festival, the Birmingham-based band are back this Friday with a bunch of new tracks.

Drawing influences from the vibes of Canadian indie collective Broken Social Scene and Nottingham’s own Six By Seven, Supercaan’s sound is like a mixtape of atmospheric psychedelia and anthemic indie rock. Led by lyricist Tom Whitfield and frontman Greg Milner, the band tells stories about the big questions in life—like what it all means and where we fit in.

The album’s name, ‘A Tiger Walks the Streets,’ stems from their song ‘Nagoro,’ a rural village in Japan that’s learned all about the price of progress.  “I saw that village as a metaphor for the cost of progress,” says lyricist Tom Whitfield. “The tiger represents the creeping threat of modernisation and the sense that our place in the world is fragile.”

From the heartfelt lyrics of ‘Zoetrope’ to the dreamy beats of ‘Ricochet,’ this album really does take you on a journey. Some tracks make you think about the people you’ve lost, while others make you question the way things are.

As we get closer to the big release day, get ready for an album that’s not just about the music—it’s about diving deep into the human experience. Pre-save ‘A Tiger Walks the Streets’ now!
