Throughout her illustrious tenure to date, Toronto-based singer-songwriter Lisa Humber has always looked to adopt a more multifaceted direction than many of her contemporaries. While always keeping her tone towards more heartfelt textures, her sound has explored this wildly adventurous pursuit, resulting in this truly unpredictable nature over the years. And after returning with her captivating comeback single ‘The Devil’s Advocate’ in March, she is back once again with her soaring new offering ‘Dance Within’.
Teaming up with regular collaborator producer/guitarist Justin Abedin, who has been instrumental to Lisa’s musical journey as well as contributing to her 2022 debut EP ‘The Space Between’, this new endeavour shines as one of her more evocative releases yet. Honing her warm and inviting songwriting to provoke some beautifully moving moments, ‘Dance Within’ sees her build upon her dynamic foundations with true flair here.
While ‘The Devil’s Advocate’ was a much livelier sound, ‘Dance Within’ shows that with even just a simple melody, Lisa Humber is able to pull on our heartstrings so emotionally. Giving her breathtaking vocals a real workout here, it feels as though we could be entering a new phase within her sound once again.
While the sudden absence from releasing new music certainly came as a surprise to her fanbase, ‘Dance Within’ shows that that time away was put to extremely good use. Rich and passionate with every single chord, Lisa Humber is returning in one of her most heartfelt guises to date here.
