With her latest track ‘I’m Ready’, Vancouver’s Danielle Schroeder continues to refine her voice as a songwriter unafraid to sit with discomfort. Pulled from her forthcoming album ‘Later Is Here’, the single hovers, steadies itself, and takes a slow, honest look inward.

Built around a minimal yet resonant production from Aaron Klassen and anchored by the steady musicianship of Jeremiah Schneider and Paolo Pietropaolo, ‘I’m Ready’ breathes deeply. Each note feels carefully placed, letting space carry weight where words might falter.

Schroeder’s raw but never fragile voice carries true conviction. There’s a palpable ache threaded through her delivery and you can hear the internal wrestling, the back-and-forth of wanting release but recognising the grip that the past still holds. It’s about closure and the complicated realisation that letting go is rarely tidy or mutual.

What sets ‘I’m Ready’ apart is its refusal to rush resolution. “No matter how much we are ready to let go,” Schroeder reflects, “sometimes they aren’t ready to let go of us, or even harder, we aren’t actually ready to let go of them.” That line captures the emotional centrepiece of the song: the limbo between readiness and resistance. It’s a feeling many won’t just hear in this track, they’ll recognise themselves in it.

There’s a tender gravity to this release, a sense that Danielle is sharing emotional field notes from a life honestly examined. In that space she creates between tension and tenderness, Danielle Schroeder’s voice lands exactly where it needs to be.
