Since embarking on a solo career, British artist Alex Kate has fearlessly been making waves across the new music scene. The singer, songwriter, and producer has not coincidentally been repeatedly compared to artists such as Kate Bush and Stevie Nicks, and has received recognition from BBC Introducing, the Glastonbury emerging talent competition and many radio stations around the world.

2024 has already been a productive year for Alex Kate, having already released the highly praised EP ‘High Club’ and the adored single ‘Animal’, and now she is back with her new single ‘Lost Soldier’.

‘Lost Soldier’ is a well-produced, atmospheric and emotionally poignant song. It begins with a tight and urgent timpani drum-track that gives the feeling of an army ready to battle, but quickly leads into Kate’s gorgeous and caring vocals accompanied by a soft piano.

Kate’s touching message that inspired the song can be heard and felt throughout. Kate says, “This song for me is a warcry to help fight the inner battles of the guys I have come across, I have been aware of the high statistics of male suicides and the statistic came closer to home when I lost a friend who no one had any idea he was fighting internal battles.”

As the song builds, there are clear 80s influences with electric guitars and synthetic bends to the music that evokes images where Kate Bush dance moves would fit right in. All this is tied together by Alex Kate’s exquisite voice and powerfully meaningful lyrics.

Given the sheer talent, skill and abundance of creativity from Kate, she shows that we can expect more from this rising star’s ever evolving catalogue. In her own words Alex Kate says she hasn’t been recording long but is “running at it 100 miles per hour” and if ‘Lost Soldier’ is anything to go by, we can expect many more great accomplishments from Kate.
