After years of songwriting, refining, and holding onto ideas, nfm finally releases ‘the lost art of letting go’, an introspective and emotionally-charged EP that serves as a farewell to the past and an invitation to something new. This project is the culmination of 15 years of creative exploration, capturing deeply personal themes of memory, ambition, family, and life itself.

Built on a foundation of raw authenticity, ‘the lost art of letting go’ channels the songwriting simplicity of The Beatles and the artistic depth of David Bowie, with additional inspiration drawn from nfm’s close friend and collaborator, Julian Bach. The result is a collection of songs that feel unfiltered and meticulously crafted, balancing intimate storytelling with musical experimentation as it plays.

Each track delves into fundamental aspects of human existence. ‘vitals’ pulses with themes of survival, ‘signals’ reflects on the weight of memories, ‘daydreams’ wrestles with ambition in the face of reality, and ‘surrender’ (a bold reimagining of Cheap Trick’s 1978 hit) explores the complexities of family ties. Recorded entirely in his Dubai apartment, nfm’s DIY approach adds an undeniable sense of warmth and closeness to the project. Whether it was tracking vocals under a blanket to control sound or competing with his deaf cat’s impromptu contributions, the recording process was as unconventional as it was deeply personal.

This EP is a cathartic release, a necessary step for nfm to move forward as an artist. As he puts it, ‘the lost art of letting go’ is about finally setting these songs free. As we embark on this sonic journey, we too find ourselves letting go of something in the process.
