Brussels artist Tom Ymani throws himself headfirst into the dizzying rush of attraction on ‘Amorium’, an infectious new double single bringing together ‘I Want You Way’ and ‘Encore Plus’.
At just 23, the independent Belgian artist is already thinking big. Across both tracks, he transforms the vulnerability of wanting someone you can’t quite have into colourful, dance-ready pop, finding exhilaration within romantic frustration rather than simply dwelling on the heartbreak.
Inspired by real crushes complicated by unavailable partners and differing sexual orientations, the release captures everything from excitement and desire to uncertainty and longing, all while maintaining an uplifting sense of movement.
Created through a combination of independent home recording and professional studio sessions, the project also demonstrates Tom Ymani’s increasingly ambitious approach to production. He wrote the lyrics and vocal melodies himself before completing the recordings with an international production and engineering team.
Inspired by pop heavyweights including Madonna, Lady Gaga, Beyoncé and Dua Lipa, while equally looking towards Belgian trailblazers such as Angèle and Stromae, Tom Ymani is beginning to build a vibrant pop world of his own; one where desire, identity and celebration can comfortably share the same dancefloor.
