Arn-Identified Flying Objects and Alien Friends return to ‘Sing-Along Songs’ with a version that feels closer to the track’s original intent. This time, it sounds tighter, sharper and more playful without losing the dark irony at its centre.
Originally released in 2024, the song has always worked through contrast. Its bright, immediate energy sits against lyrics shaped by darker times, creating the kind of tension that gives power pop and punk their best bite. But on this new version, that contrast is pushed even further forward.
The introduction lands with more urgency, the guitars feel more pointed, and the mix gives the arrangement extra clarity from start to finish. There’s still a strong melodic pull, but the song now carries more snap and movement, making the punk influence feel more like a part of its core identity.
David Myhr’s backing vocals are one of the clearest additions. Arriving more prominently in the later choruses, they bring a deliberately infectious lift to the song and sharpen its sense of humour at the same time. That playful quality matters because ‘Sing-Along Songs’ appeal comes from how easily it turns unease into something catchy, communal and faintly absurd.
Following the album ‘The King and the Sparrow’, this new take on ‘Sing-Along Songs’ is more of a useful refinement rather than a rewrite. The structure remains recognisable, but the execution now feels more decisive.
