Montréal multidisciplinary artist Musroe delivers one of her most captivating releases yet with ‘Left2Rot/Now’, a beautifully constructed two-track journey that introduces the world of forthcoming EP EPHEMERA.
This pairing brilliantly showcases Musroe’s ability to turn complicated emotions into vivid, immersive sound. Designed to flow naturally into one another, ‘Left2Rot’ and ‘Now’ explore the transition from feeling completely overwhelmed to rediscovering the calm and clarity of the present.
‘Left2Rot’ immediately demonstrates Musroe’s adventurous approach to production. Beginning life as a guitar demo, the song was pulled apart and completely reimagined, building through expressive vocals and surging electric guitars towards a thrilling emotional peak.
While ‘Now’ provides a gorgeous counterpoint. Four guitar lines created using a looper pedal are slowed into shimmering, weightless textures, transforming the intensity of the first track into a wonderfully peaceful slice of ambient dream-pop.
Writing, arranging and producing her own work, Musroe combines elements of alternative indie-rock, dream-pop and experimental production with the creative freedom of contemporary art. Loose parallels with Radiohead, Montell Fish and Slow Fiction provide reference points, but her increasingly distinctive approach feels entirely personal.
